PRODUCTION OF ANTIBACTERIAL POLYESTER NONWOVEN WITH ZNO/TIO2 NANOCOMPOSITE: AN INDUSTRIAL CASE STUDY

Abstract
Nonwoven is one of the most applicable industries in textile manufacturing and thermal bonding, as it is the most frequently used method in nonwoven production. In this research, in order to extend the lifetime of textile goods, the antimicrobial thermofuse polyester nonwoven was modified by applying ZnO/TiO2 on an industrial scale. To meet this goal, the researchers investigated visual discoloration and hand feeling. Moreover, SEM and AFM were used to confirm the presence and distribution of nanocomposite in various layers. The results reveal that treated nonwovens exhibit no adverse effect on color and hand feeling. Additionally, on the fiber’s surface, the nanoparticles were observed and the layers passed strong antibacterial properties against infectious bacteria which aided in the prevention of odors. Consequently, the treated nonwoven has a great deal of potential for use in sleep products and bed systems.
