Abstract
Porous bioactive glass-ceramic with different amounts of non-ionic surfactant was synthesized by the sol-gel method. While, the composition of glass-ceramics and synthesis conditions were constant, the weight ratio of the surfactant to the glass-ceramic precursors was 0.35, 0.40 and 0.44, respectively. According to scanning electron microscopy (SEM), particles have a smooth and homogeneous surface. Also, the t-plot test revealed the formation of particles with mesoporous structure, high surface area, large pore-volume and external surface area. Based on physicochemical characterizations, the surfactant to precursor’s ratio of 0.40 results in the formation of particles with larger surface area and pore volume and was considered as the optimal value.
